Bamboo whisk - Shirotake Shin Chasen

€24.00
Only 10 available

Chasen is a handcrafted bamboo whisk used in Japanese tea ceremonies to mix matcha with hot water, creating a smooth, frothy tea. It’s an essential tool for traditional tea preparation.

This Shirotake Shin Chasen is a traditional, lightweight matcha whisk crafted from pale white bamboo. Its well-formed, upright tines offer a graceful balance, making it ideal for preparing both koicha (thick tea) and usucha (thin tea) in formal tea ceremonies. A fine blend of function and elegance.

Caring for Your Bamboo Chasen

Each chasen is handmade from natural bamboo, so every whisk is unique. Because bamboo is delicate, it’s normal that a few tips may break off over time. This does not affect its function and is part of the natural life of the whisk.

To keep your chasen happy and in good shape, and to make the best creamy foam 🍵

  • Soak in warm water for 2–3 minutes before use

  • Whisk lightly in an “M/Z” motion (without pressing down)

  • Rinse gently and let it air dry

  • Store on a chasen holder (kusenaoshi) to help it keep its round form and last longer

💚 Please note: tip breakage is considered a normal part of use, so we don’t replace or refund chasen for this.
